I'm Alice, and Object Story is something I built slowly, from a garden shed in Stroud.

It started in 2020 as an online shop - a place to gather objects I loved and share them with people who might love them too. Simple, design-led things. Pieces that were beautiful and useful in equal measure. It is shaped by the understanding that the objects that surround us in life – however incidental – are the same items that build memories, and mark the moments we cherish the most.

Over time, Object Story has naturally evolved. I am taking a break from stocking objects from artisan makers, and have turned my attention to making beautiful table lamps.

I've been sourcing vintage stoneware and antique vessels from fairs and shops across the UK - salt-glazed jars, earthenware crocks, ceramic pieces - and turning them into table lamps. Each one wired and fitted by hand. Each one completely unique, because no two vessels ever are.

There's something I find endlessly satisfying about taking an object that has already lived a long life and giving it a new one. A lamp that lights a room, that sits on a bedside table or a shelf, that becomes part of the daily backdrop of a home. The history stays in it. The marks and patina and slight imperfections that tell you this was made by hand, used by someone, found somewhere.

Object Story has always been shaped by a belief in the beauty of honest materials and slow making. In objects that don't shout. In things worth keeping.
