A delicate little plate for serving dessert after supper.

Thrown by hand on a potters wheel in Cornwall using local clay, the partial dolomite glaze brings out the iron in the clay body lending a slight hint of blue.

The bottom of the plate is left unglazed, which gives a wonderful earthy feel - a beautiful object you'll want to use each and every day.

~ this is the smallest of the Leach Pottery plates shown alongside a side (medium) and dinner (large) plate

  • 2cm high, 15.5cm wide
  • made by hand in Cornwall, UK
  • due to the handmade nature of this object, glazes and finishes are unique and can vary significantly

Leach Pottery

Founded in 1920 by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamad, the Leach Pottery is among the most respected and influential studio potteries in the world.

The charity continues Bernard's legacy by making the handcrafted Leach Standard Ware tableware and training the next generation of potters from across the globe in their historical studio nestled away in St Ives in Cornwall.

"there is a unity of design and execution, a cooperation of hand and undivided personality, for designer and craftsman are one" Bernard Leach, A Potter's Book, 1940

Each mug, jug, bowl and plate and pot is thrown on the potter's wheel, using local clay, each pot is a unique expression of the potter's skill and intention.
